The Mojita Bonita

Fleming's has a new low-cal cocktail on the menu.  It's called the Mojita Bonita.

Prepared By Maeve Pesquera, Director of Wine

Serves 1

Ingredients

1 oz.    Stoli Vanil vodka

1 oz.    Pineapple juice

1 oz.    Monin sugar‐free vanilla syrup

1 oz.    Fresh lime juice

10        Fresh mint leaves

2 oz.    Club soda

Ice cubes

Directions

Place mint leaves and lime juice in glass. Use a muddler to bruise the mint leaves and release the mint oils. (Don’t over crush.) Place Stoli Vanil, pineapple juice, sugar‐free vanilla syrup and ice in a cocktail shaker and shake thoroughly. Pour into the glass with mint leaves and top with club soda. Garnish with mint sprig.

Fashion, food, philanthropy!  It's all coming together for this year's White Party to be held at the Long Center on May 27, 2011.

Models All Made Up in White

Two of our clients, Dagar's Catering and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar ,are participating by serving up some yummy treats in the Tasting Grove.  Dagar's will serve sliders and homemade potato chips. Guests will be able to season their own chips with the flavoring of their choice.  Fleming's will serve a seared scallop with white cauliflower puree'!  Delicious.

A Nice Word from a Client

Rachel - Fleming's was mentioned again today in the STATESMAN in an article by foodwriter Mike Sutter about the owners of restaurants Wink and Zoot.  The context was the six degrees of separation in our industry. 

We have to believe that your efforts at PR and your initiatives at cultivating and maintaining relationships within the media community are paying off for us.  We seem to make the newspaper regularly, and we do not stand out by omission in articles as we often have in the past.

Fleming's & Rolls Royce

Austin now has a Rolls Royce dealership.  To celebrate, the owners threw a big party and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar was there serving to their guests.

Chef Boyer Derise of the Domain Fleming's and Chef Erick Nixon of the Downtown Austin Fleming's served a delicious beef tenderloin on a crostini to this A-list crowd.  It was important to get Fleming's out in front of this key demographic of luxury car lovers, buyers and owners and Pickie Pie made that happen. Neiman Marcus was also there showing off a beautiful line of women's diamond jewelry.  Cars, diamonds and great food!  That's the good life!

 Pickie Pie secured a spot for Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar on KXAN's Tasty Thursday in March.

Chef Erick Nixon prepared a delicious ahi tuna appetizer.  

The Downtown Austin Fleming's turns 10 in June and Pickie Pie will be on board to  help them celebrate with a bang!

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar will be open early at 11:30 a.m. this Easter Sunday for brunch.  The three-course meal is $32.95 per person and features fare not usually expected on a steakhouse menu, entrees like the berry-stuffed french toast.  Yum!

Pickie Pie and Tidbits

Tidbits, which launched first here in Austin and has now expanded to about half a dozen cities, is an online newsletter for the "gal about town."  The editors work hard to feature products, deals, nibbles, services and cocktail concoctions ladies would to love to share with their gal pals. They host events from time to time for their subscribers.

Pickie Pie teamed up with the Tidbits gals to secure Deep Eddy Vodka, Fleming's and She-n-He Photography and Design at their September event at Y&I Boutique.  Participation resulted in advertising trade secured by Pickie Pie for these clients.

Our client Dagar's Catering catered the Tidbits Red Soul Soiree in San Antonio at ArtPace.  This participation was also secured by Pickie Pie and resulted in advertising trade for Dagar's.  This is a horizontal version of the ad Tidbits produced for Dagar's.  They also designed and ran a vertical ad.

Pickie Pie works hard to find opportunities for our clients to reach potential customers in a variety of ways, not just the traditional stuff. We also spend a great deal of time developing our partnerships, relationships and connections to media.

Holiday Glossy Glam

Our client Dagar's Catering served some of their best holiday appetizers to the VIP invitation-only guests at the Holiday 2010 Glossy Glam at a gorgeous home in Westlake on a crisp wintery night.  Glossy is an insert publication focusing on lifestyle that only goes to certain high-dollar zip codes in Austin.  Pickie Pie secured this sponsorship for Dagar's which resulted in a half-page of advertising trade in the November Glossy and some nice party pics in the next issue.

Here are two of the recipes they featured:

Grandmas Fruit Salad- This is not your healthy fruit salad

1 Bag of Green or Red Grapes
3 Oranges
2 Apples
3 Bananas
Pecans
Marshmallows
Pint Heavy Cream
 Cup  of Sugar
Hand Mixer or Kitchen Aid
2 Mixing Bowls
-Slice all Fruit, Nuts, and Marshmallows  in mixing bowl
-Place Heavy cream in second mixing bowl and add sugar
-Whip until fluffy
_add Whipped Cream to Fruit and Nuts
-Transfer to a decorative ball, place in fridge covered until dinner time

Strawberry Champagne Punch

Orange Juice-1.5 gallons
Pineapple Juice- 2.5 gallons
2.5 Cups of Sugar
1/2 cup of Cloves
5 Cinnamon Sticks
1 gallon of Water
2 Pints of Strawberries
2 Bottles of Brut Champagne

Take a stock pot add your sugar, Cinnamon, and cloves to a gallon of water. Let Steep for 10 minutes
Mix your pineapple juice and orange juice together.
Take your Sugar, Cinnamon and clove mixture strain over the Juices
Let Cool...( You can add this to your ham prior to adding the strawberries)
Puret the strawberries and add to punch
Place in Fridge
Cool Champagne
Pour half punch and half champagne onto flute for your guest.

Kendra Scott Grand Opening VIP Party-Local Media

Pickie Pie was tapped by Austin Jewelry Designer and Businesswoman Kendra Scott to garner local media attention for the Grand Opening VIP Party celebrating the opening of her first retail boutique on February 10, 2011.  The store, located in the heart of South Congress, featured the candy-themed designs of Camille Styles for the night and an A-list crowd including actor Luke Wilson.

White Hot Spring Time

The White Party is the biggest see-and-be-scene affair of Austin springtime.  The party, which benefits Lifeworks, is scheduled for May 27th on the lawn at the Long Center.  Often held at Green Pastures and in July, organizers moved it to May and the Long Center lawn last year to take advantage of cooler temps and a larger space beneath the Austin skyline.  The party has sold out the last three years to a crowd of 700 plus of Austin's movers and shakers.

Pickie Pie has done pro-bono public relations work for this event now for a third year.  This week, we facilitated a segment with YNN's, Austin's local 24-hour cable news channel, Fashionably Yours segment with Erin Driscoll.  Connie Bakonyi, Executive Director of the Austin Fashion Association, styled the shoot, gathered the looks and the models and arranged for all the hair and makeup.  Connie is a rock star and a detailed perfectionist.
